Opal Light is an original calming coastal painting inspired by the soft, changing light and peaceful colours found where sea, sky and shoreline meet.

Layers of delicate aqua, turquoise and ocean blue flow through the composition, softened by subtle washes of opalescent green, cream and warm peach. The colours gently merge and reflect across the painting, creating the impression of sunlight moving across calm water and giving the piece its luminous, almost ethereal quality.

The distant horizon and sweeping horizontal forms create a wonderful feeling of space, while the softly defined shoreline brings the composition back towards the viewer. Rather than depicting a particular place, Opal Light captures the atmosphere of the coast — that quiet moment when the sea is calm, the light is changing and the colours of the landscape seem to blend into one another.

There is a gentleness to this painting that makes it particularly suited to interiors where you want to create a feeling of calm and openness. Its fresh palette works beautifully with neutral, natural and contemporary interiors, while the subtle warmth running through the centre prevents the cooler coastal blues from feeling cold.
