In The Mood is an original sunset coastal painting inspired by those captivating moments on the coast when the light begins to change and the sky becomes filled with unexpected colour.
 
Sweeping layers of pink, lilac, soft peach and blue flow across the sky, gradually meeting the fresh turquoise and deeper blue tones of the sea below. Gentle touches of warm colour create the feeling of the last light of the day, while the distant horizon gives the composition a wonderful sense of space and openness.
 
Along the shoreline, delicate white waves meet soft, natural sandy tones, creating a peaceful contrast to the expressive movement of the sky. I wanted this painting to capture both sides of the coast — the energy and drama found above the horizon and the calming rhythm of the sea beneath it.
 
The fluid movement of the colour is an important part of In The Mood. Rather than creating a traditional, highly detailed seascape, I have used a more contemporary and expressive approach, allowing colour, movement and atmosphere to convey the feeling of standing beside the sea and watching the landscape change as daylight fades.
 
With its vibrant sunset tones and clear coastal influence, In The Mood is designed to bring colour and a feeling of freedom and tranquillity into a contemporary interior. It would make a beautiful statement piece in a living room, bedroom or other space where its changing colours can be enjoyed throughout the day.
 
Created individually by me in my Hampshire studio, In The Mood is a one-of-a-kind original painting. The original will not be recreated, making it a unique piece of Laura Boden Art for its collector.
